Twenty-four looks, one room, no music

Why we showed Quiet Weather in silence, and what 180 guests heard instead.

We decided on silence six weeks before the show. Music tells you how to feel about clothes; we wanted the clothes to do it.

What you could hear

The heel on the concrete. The rail being wheeled back. A coat hem brushing a trouser. The room was quiet enough that people stopped whispering by look four.

It ran for eleven minutes. The finale line walked out together, and the only sound was applause.
