Pricing freelance design by the problem

I stopped quoting hours three years ago. Here's how I price a project by what the problem costs the client today.

Hourly pricing punishes speed. The better you get, the less you earn, and the client worries about every meeting on the invoice.

Now I ask one question in the first call: what does this problem cost you each month? A three-hour pay run for forty studios is easy to put a number on.

I quote a fixed price for a defined outcome, with two check-ins where we can change scope in writing.

Clients rarely push back, because the conversation is about their business, not my time.
