The ceremony was at four, the dinner at eight and the dancing started at ten. By then the only light in the courtyard came from strings of bulbs and the bar, so I switched to the Leica and HP5 pushed two stops.
Lifting the bride
Rafael's cousins lifted Inês on a chair during the third song. I had about eight seconds and one roll left. The frame on the cover is the sixth exposure; the grain is part of it, and I would not want it any cleaner.
What the couple received
Contact sheets of all fourteen rolls three weeks later, full scans, and ten hand-printed 10x8 fibre prints in a linen box.
